Overview For Sumo Robot
Scenario: The entertainment around the world are always on the look out for ways to come up with new forms of entertainment one such way had been to use robots such as Sumo Wrestling which is fast becoming a very popular form of entertainment and yet at the same time it serves as a opportunity for companies to gain funding to improve robots abilities to be able to preform tasks that human being can do! In recent times we have seen in many futuristic films where the whole armed forces are made up of robots such as in Star Wars. A robotic company has approached you, requesting your assistance in creating a competitive robot for the World Sumo Wrestling Competition held in America each year!
Criterion A Inquiry and Analyzing
Strand 1. Explain and justify how Sumo Robots can help us to understand and develop robots in the future? (Before you try and answer this Strand, get in small groups 2 or 3 and go on Youtube.com and lightly research how robots effect our lives today already! Then go back to your Weebly Website and type up your own answer)
Answer: Sumo Robots can help us to understand and develop robots in the future by testing the extremes of robots by aware of there senses. it will help me understand the senses around me. It will give us a preview about how the robots could look/preform in the future. Today we use it during technology in business. Business saves money by using technology to preform certain tasks. We use it during technology in communication. You could draft business messages, and email it without any delays and they will reply to you instantly. The use of technology in education. Gadgets and mobile apps help students learn in a faster way. You can access a full library via using a mobile app on any smart phone or IPad. You use technology in purchasing. Technology made the buying and selling goods soo flexible. Without leaving the comfort of home you can buy things online. You use technology in agriculture. They can work faster and more accurate off and on the field using an mobile app. You use technology in banking. Technology made it simple to move with more money without having fears to get robbed on the way. You use technology to control and harness natural forces. Technology has enabled humans to build large dams which can harbour excess water and generate power. Also fire is tamed to heat our homes and process industrial materials. Wind is used to generate electricity. Converts solar energy to power which is being used in homes and businesses. This controls natural forces.
Strand 2: Get in small groups and Create a Mind map full of ideas, for what you all think a Sumo Robot would need to be successful , remember to refer to this mind map when you are filling in your personal Sumo Robot Research Table for Strand 4 in criterion A:

Strand 3. Put together a Weebly slide show (from the side menu) and then add a text box and talk about how these images of Robots gave you ideas of how to create your own Sumo Robot!

Criterion B: Developing Ideas
How to program a Sumo Robot
Programming a EV3 to IPad or android
Log into Youtube.com and review some Sumo Robot wrestling (take note on how they are built and how they successful they are at Wrestling!) Upload a couple of Youtube.com video below of your favorite Sumo Robots!
Strand 1. Suggest some design specifications from your research (from Criterion A) which you are thinking of including into your Sumo Robot Wrestler.
Develop a design specification which outlines the success criteria for the design of a solution based on the data collected
My design specifications will include the following from research carried in Criterion A Inquiry and Analyzing.
The kinds of programming that I can do with my Sumo Robot are:
+ I can programme it to go straight for as long as I want.
+ I can programme it to turn angles both right and left at any angle of degree.
+ I can stop and start the Sumo Robot at any time.
+ I can get it to read the difference between Black and White with the color sensor.
The kinds of sensors that I have available to me to use in my Rescue Robot are:
+Colour sensors to tell the difference of colors.
+ Touch sensors to tell the sense of touch.
Ways to control the Rescue Robot:
+ Control program using mind storms.
+ Pre-set programme then upload it in the EV3 bot.
The ways of interacting with the person or thing that the Rescue Robot is saving:
+ I can have a clipper to communicate with other robots.
+ I can have a pincher and arms on the sides of the robot.

Strand 2. Present a Three feasible design ideas, which can be correctly interpreted by others
Design One: Sumo Robot Design
Strand 3. Present the chosen design from the three suggested design above and outline the reasons for its selection over the other two designs!
Strand 4. Develop accurate planning drawings/diagrams and outline requirements for the creation of the chosen solution.
I chose this Sumo Robot, because it shows that it has defense. This Sumo Robot reaches all of the requirements and exceeds expectations. This Sumo Robot is great at defense, and could beat down other Sumo Robots.
Criterian C: Create
Strand 1. Construct a logical plan, which outlines the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create a Rescue Robot (create a your own You Tube Video or Table in Word breaking down how you will follow a series of steps to create a Sumo Robot for wrestling)
Strand 2. Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the Rescue Robot (This could be displayed in Strand 1 video or Table as well in class) (So no need to write anything here!)
Strand 3. Follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended explain changes made to the chosen design and the plan when making the Rescue Robot.
I have made changes to my robot that was not part of my original plan. I have improved my defense for my robot, to make it stronger. I did not make my robot big, so that way it would be quick during the matches. I also changed the programming part. That was because, my programming at first was not really good to face big and strong robots. So I made my programming trickier for the other robots to face me. The robots got confused, so it was easier form me to knock out of the circle.
Strand 4. Present the solution as a whole (Photo of the final Sumo Robot)

Criteria D: Evaluate
Strand 1. Describe detailed and relevant testing methods, which generate accurate data, to measure the success of the Sumo Robot ?
Strand 2. Explain the success of the Sumo Robot against the design specification? (How did the sumo compare to the design specification in Criterion B)
My robot was a success against the design specifications, because it met all the design specifications in criterion B. It could be programmed with the movements you want it to have, and with intentions with certain timing exactly like the design specifications. My robot is stable, quick, and very simple to use. I built this robot to be fast, not too big, and to be helpful in ways. You can make the robot turn angles in any degrease you want it to when you program it. The colored sensor on the robot recognizes the required colors to acknowledge when to move and stop moving. The sensors work as touch, and colors. The program is working from the pre-program, and would be uploaded into the robot I built.
Strand 3. Describe how the Sumo Robot could be improved ?
My sumo robot could be improved by having more designs on it to make it look cooler. The defense part could be improved, so it could fight the other robots and make them lose matches in a quicker way because of how good my improved defense turned out to be. I could improve my defense by having things that look like a sword on the back of my robot. I am aware of having a good defense on the front of my robot, but I could still improve it by making it half a wall. That way I could push the robots outside of the circle in a faster way. But I am not going to add may things, so that way my robot could still be fast, and small.
Strand 4. Describe the impact (what happened?) of your Sumo Robot when used on the other Sumo Robots?
When my Sumo Robot was used on the other Sumo Robots, it was pushed away very easily. But in the end I pushed some of the robots out of the way, because I had kind of a strong defense. I have won matches with Sumo Robots that were built the same as my Sumo Robot, and they all had the same weaknesses as I did. My Sumo Robot lost against the big and heavy robots. They easily pushed me out of the circle, and that gave me a hint that I had to improve my robot in defense.
